Financial Aid
  • Financial aid resources and options for students with disabilities; more financial aid information is on our page for future college students
  • Talk to your financial aid office - sometimes students with disabilities qualify for financial aid accommodations, where they can get full-time financial aid with a reduced credit load, or the financial aid office can adjust your financial aid package based on your out-of-pocket costs of disability-related expenses.  See an example of this policy at the University of Connecticut's website.
Disability Services
  • Learn about your rights and responsibilities under federal law as a student with a disability
  • Find out more about common accommodations for students, and some examples of what your campus will not offer; know that accommodations are not "standard" and each campus may offer different services
  • Think about questions to ask about any disability-related technology or equipment you will need
  • Get Problems with Disability Serviceshelp with any problems you are having with disability services
Classes and Academics
  • Some general tips for students with disabilities can get you started
  • Need some study or organizational strategies?  We've got you covered
  • Want to study disability? Or disability and race?
  • Plan ahead if you're interested in grad school
Getting Involved on Campus
  • Study abroad information for students who would like to travel to other countries - for credit!
  • Information you can share with groups about planning accessible events (also see our tip sheet about planning events)
  • Ever thought about creating change or building community through a student organization related to disability?  See a list of campuses with student organizations or read more about it with our tip sheet about student organizations
